The Asbury Group Coaches assemble for the moment…
When I think of the word Revival, there is a specific image that comes to mind. I see a room with a group of people standing on their feet praying, singing, and deeply desiring a connection to God. Sometimes, I see the people in a tent or a large gathering outside. The sentiment is the same. I feel Spirit moving around them as they wait for the ‘fresh wind’ to come upon them.
Revival is here.
It feels like the moments I have been in deep prayer with my sisters or in my prayer room on my knees, deeply seeking God’s wisdom and instruction. I often experience a breeze as God meets me at the place of need. I feel a sense of relief and often a sense of renewal. At times, it feels like a reconnection or a deepening of understanding. Even in the subtle ways it happens, I know that something is happening.
Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to experience revival. It was not the typical revival experience that happens inside a church. Revival came to the place where people were ready to be fed. It happened in a ballroom, during a professional women’s conference in Miami.
Revival is here!
Really. Why would it be anywhere else? We were ready for the renewing of our minds and the revival of our spirits. We were ready to release burdens that we may not have even known were there. It proves that a spiritual gathering is one where hearts are anchored in their divine work and desire for ever deepening connection to God.
For years now, I have been embracing my understanding of the changes that will happen in the marketplace. Marketplace refers to the spaces outside of what you think of as traditional church or places of religious worship. It is beyond your household. It is work, community, and affiliations where the matters of God are being attended to.
Likely, you haven’t thought about it this way simply because we have been acculturated to believe that God and spirituality do not belong (or lead) in those places. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
When I launched The Anika Apple Podcast, I sought God’s instruction around differentiating it from The Remarkably Me Podcast. I recognized that I was being called to prepare us for what it looks like to lead in the marketplace. Many of us have been called to create pathways to learning from the center. We are called to this moment to help leaders refresh their minds, visions, and behaviors so that they lead at a higher level. Conscious leadership is the general term that resonates the most with me. I further simplify my work by explaining that helping leaders reconnect to their truth enables them to show up in an aligned way to do the work they were created to do. The podcast is a tool to help leaders see themselves differently, embrace ways to strengthen community, and lead from a values-centered place. It further amplifies the work I do in Advisory and Executive Coaching.
Over the past year and a half, the episodes have been focused on preparing leaders to think differently and calling them back to seeing the real assignment, that being the call to action to think and build differently. During that time, God has been showing and teaching me Their design for leaders. They have called leaders to show up. They have called leaders to build with core principles. I am blessed to work with many leaders who embody the things that God has been highlighting for me. I can point to differentiators, tenets, and I am seeing results shift in the traditional business metrics, as well as their cultural impacts.
This is revival!!!
Two weeks ago, I experienced all of it at once. I was submerged in an environment cultivated to feed exceptional leaders with more than the typical, albeit important, conversations about the state of business & industries, futurists’ perspectives, and global trends. The pillars of business, wellness and wealth met each of the top business professionals with what they needed. The sessions were packed with information, insight and impact.
At Excelerateher, the entire experience was a demonstration of leadership at the next level. The values were visible in the content and experiences during the conference. There was a beautiful urgency around embracing the shifts that are happening for business and the broader, more global impact across our lives. There was a theme of celebration, recognition, and honoring the impact of those who have truly paved the way, which is significant when you are in a room full of trailblazers.
It was incredible. An experience that I know I will always remember.
God was present– centered really. From the opening session, through panel discussions, dinners and each time founder Kim Blackwell graced the mic. It was so clear that she understands her calling and so eloquently led by noting that it was God that created the moment that we were experiencing.
Excelerateher is example of centering God and being impeccable with delivering on the promises for the experience. You can do both, Centering God amplifies the work you do. It’s time to realize that God is in all aspects of our life in the same way that we deliver best when we operate as a whole person.
I was blessed to be in the room as a part of The Asbury Group executive coaches who provided sessions to the global leaders in attendance. Every session was divinely led, impact centered and transformative. What we heard constantly is “I felt seen!” People showed up fully, opened up to receive what they needed, and trusted that what they needed would be there. I believe that they found it. They walked away renewed, refreshed, refocused, and revived.
It. Was. Revival.
As I stood in the middle of the ballroom floor watching this precious moment and feeling the presence of God, I knew I was in the midst of something really special. It was even more special than what I realized as I witnessed synchronicities, healing moments, and divine connections in the days prior. There was an energy of surrender and acceptance. There was a divine warmth surrounding the women in the room. Something special was happening. It was visible and palpable. It was transformative.
A few days after returning home, I was in my prayer room. I was about to leave the room when God called me back to stand by the window. Enveloped in the moment, I began to see what happened that day and the evening before. It was REVIVAL. God showed me that people were ready to release burdens and receive divine strategy and strength. It was no accident. The people in the room at that moment were ready. They were seeking. The answer came through a sacred moment marked by surrender and answered through love.
I understand more about this moment than I will share in this article because the backstory is so incredibly deep. What you should know is that this kind of revival will become the norm. God is always ready to meet us.
Revival will occur where hearts are aligned and leaders show up to say yes to their assignment. There is something special about the leaders at Excelerateher. They said yes. Yes without the details and blueprints. Yes to a fog-covered path ahead. Yes to the steep hills and glass ceilings.God met them at their yes, in the same way God is ready to do that for others. The question is who is willing to create the space for God, to genuinely honor and seek Them? For those who seek will find…REVIVAL.
“For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” Matt 18:20 NIV
“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
Peace and Blessings!

Over many years of participating in countless communities, formal and informal, big and small, I’ve gathered more than a few insights about what helps these circles grow strong, stay vibrant, and truly nourish their members. Oddly enough, I’ve never organized my favorite advice into a “top 5” list. So let this be my overdue offering: five pieces of practical wisdom for anyone seeking to create or nurture community that actually lasts.
Truth be told, not every group jumps at these suggestions right away. But over time, most discover the simple beauty in these points, and, with a little patience, incorporate them with great success. My hope is that you’ll see something in these tips you can try in your own circles, starting today.
Giving often comes naturally, but receiving? That’s another story. Many of us find it easier to pour into others than to let others give to us. Yet vibrant, reciprocal communities require both. Practice saying “yes” when support is offered. If you find this difficult, examine your own mindsets and habits: are you worried you’ll owe someone? Are you holding back out of discomfort or old wounds? Recognize that receiving is not a weakness, it’s essential for healthy, balanced relationships.
2. Be Honest About Capacity (Yes, Set Those Boundaries)
It can be tempting to show up as the ever-present helper, always available for anyone who asks. But pouring out without replenishment leads to resentment and burnout. Before taking something on, ask yourself honestly: do I have the time and energy for this? It’s not only okay to protect your own needs, it’s absolutely necessary. Say what you can offer and stick to it. A thriving community is built on many people doing what they can, not a few people sacrificing themselves for everyone else.
3. Lead With Authenticity, Not Obligation
There’s no prize for blending in or squashing your true self to fit what you think others want. Show up as you, changing tastes and all. If everyone loves movie night but you’d rather skip, be up front, don’t go just to keep up appearances. Authenticity deepens trust and lets others know where you stand. If your needs or preferences shift as you grow, it’s just fine (encouraged, even) to voice that honestly. Communities endure when people can be real, not when everyone wears a mask.
4. Have the Courageous Conversations Early
If you’re leaning on someone for their professional skill or unique gifting, talk about it up front. Is this a friendly favor or a professional service? Don’t leave things unsaid until awkwardness builds. Communities flourish when expectations are clear: what’s being given, what’s being received, and where boundaries lie. Respect everyone’s expertise, and their right to keep some skills as paid work rather than a community freebie. An honest chat early on saves a hundred headaches later.
5. Show Up, Presence Matters More Than Perfection
You don’t have to say the right thing or offer brilliant solutions every time. Sometimes all someone needs is to be seen and heard. Ask what’s actually needed in the moment instead of jumping into “fix it” mode. And if you can’t be present because life is demanding, communicate that simply and honestly. Real communities aren’t kept alive by superhuman efforts; they endure because people care enough to check in, make time, and admit when they need help themselves.
There you have it. Five simple but not always easy reminders for building the kind of supportive, lasting community we all need, especially in changing times. Consider which of these hits home for you, and how you might live them out this week, whether you’re nurturing a long-standing circle or starting fresh. Always remember: if you can’t show up as your full self in community, where can you?
What’s Inspiring Me This Week:
Luvvie Ajayi Jones’ Mission
to get 10,000 Children Seen
A few months back, I was reading Luvvie’s newsletter which is always packed with goodness. Luvvie referenced an interaction with someone, regarding her name, that hit home for me. That experience is a part of the impetus for her writing this very important book. The book was released this week on 5/6/2025.
Personally, I’ve been called Anita as if I didn’t know that ‘K’ and ‘T’ are different letters and have had my name pronounced Annika (ANN-ih-kah) for decades by people who were certain that they had it right. After correcting a colleague’s pronunciation of my name, they introduced me at a large business meeting incorrectly. <<Sigh>>
What’s in a name? Everything.
I love the premise behind the book. What I REALLY Love is Luvvie’s mission… and YOU CAN HELP!
The mission is to get 10,000 copies of “Little Troublemaker Defends Her Name” into the hands of children who need to know that they are important- their name matters, their safety matters and that they deserve respect on their names! Period.
Here’s how we can help:Sponsor copies of the book for classrooms. Luvvie has teachers ready to receive the books and trust me, kids want to read this book! You can help get this book into schools and libraries around the world.
Think about the impact on the future generation. Reconnect with your inner child in moments when you were dismissed or bullied… You can shift a child’s experience by helping them be seen. Sponsor copies of the book for classrooms and invite others to do the same.
I can guarantee you don’t know this…
My middle name at birth was Onda. I never liked it and I liked it even less when I heard the story of how my parents decided to name me Anika Onda. After countless moments of being teased by family, I decided that at the first available moment I could I would change it. I did exactly that. I have close friends who have known me for decades who don’t know my middle name.
So why am I sharing it here? Several years ago, I was in a supermercado in Puerto Vallerta and I saw a card that said “Buena Onda.” Of course I bought it and wanted to know what it meant. It is a term for a ‘good person.’ As the taxi driver told me the meaning, my jaw dropped. Anika means goodness. My parents didn’t know that meaning of Onda, but God did. I still have that card. It’s a representation of me and a moment that I decided to embrace who I am more fully. I know the power of what Luvvie is doing. I saw the card and felt connected. I heard the meaning and it resonated. My identity is so important to me now and I can only imagine how things would have been if I knew then what I know now.
